((((Update))))

Alright, it has been about a month since my last post. I have been really busy getting my life straightened out to get where I want. I have done two things recently.

I used to work for Geek Squad doing on-site computer repair for the past two years. I quit school in order to persue my computer geekyness and see where Geek Squad could take me.

The Badge

After working for about two years things got to be the same; day in and day out. A big lightbulb in my head turned on and said “Ray you can do way better for yourself!” Lately I have become really motivated to start moving on with my life to do better for myself.

My next step was enrolling back into school to finish up to know more about myself and the world. I set to re-enroll about two weeks ago at SJSU, but they nolonger accept applications for the Fall. My next step was going to San Jose City College to finish up my General Education classes and transfer to SJSU or any other University.

While working at Geek Squad I would dedicate hours to KSJS to have and keep my on air show time. This time around my show time has changed to: Sunday’s 10am-2pm. The show is still called Soular Powered (until I think of another name) and its on every week until the next schedule change in the Spring. When you get a chance to tune in to 90.5FM in the South Bay. I will be posting whole 4 hour recordings of my show after my show ends as well as the playlists.

My show’s have mostly been about music and I don’t really talk much about any current events in hip hop or anything going on in my life. My goal for the show this semester would be to incorporate new ways of thinking about hip hop and get interviews with more artists about their views on hip hop and their community. I have been listening to other shows and Dj Ekatusay & Maury have a pretty good flow with music and hip hop events/news.

From listening to other radio show formats around the bay, I figured I don’t want to be like them. They like to talk about common news that people have heard from TV, News radio, or Celebrity news. The way Mainstream Radio sounds seems like they are all about putting other people down or keeping a status quo of what is cool and what is not; without researching or knowing the history of the subjects.

I would like to have my show be all about learning, researching, and finding out answers to things in hip hop and our local communities. If I don’t know something about any subjects I would have to say I don’t know and find out more information, instead of putting it down or making false assumptions about the topic. Anyone could mouth off about any topic and pretend they know things about it. By doing that you keep the status quo. You never move things along or enlighten people to know more about what it is you are talking about. My slogan would be: KSJS, not your status quo.

So let me break it down again. Its that time of the year when school is ending, people are graduating, and they move on. For 90.5FM, KSJS, the same thing happens. People move on, and on air spots open up for the summer, fall, and spring.

If you ddin’t know, I took a two semester break from school and KSJS. When I was with KSJS, I was grinding hard to get a dope ass on air spot. In order to do that, you have to put lots of hours in, setting up Movie Premiers, Giving Out Tickets, DJing at random places, and Recruiting peeps. I got tired, and just got hired as a full timer at Geek Squad, being a Double Agent. With being full time, it really cuts into the things you could do outside of work. So…

Yesterday, my home girl Dj Savvy, hit me up while at work. Naturally, to quite the noise, I hit the ignore button, to check my messages later, and get back to peeps after work. So then, this girl, starts blowing up my phone, 2 times, 3 times, 4 times…..and I had to pick up. She explains that there are openings for an on air spot at KSJS.

Time seems to freeze, and I sit there thinking deeply. Do I have time to be at KSJS, rep with mad hours and still be killin’ it at work? Who cares….i’ll do it!

So she is a psyched, and I am as well. This is gonna be crazy, I haven’t been on air for a minute, amd its gonna be crazy! She gives me some times, and I choose Wednesday mornings from 6am - 10am.

Throw Up

Its been a while since i’ve updated my blog. For the most part, I let my mom borrow my camera, so I haven’t made an effort to post anything. But enough of my whining. Beat updates are coming soon. I just finished recording a few tracks with my homie Martin, as seen a few posts below. We layed down some vocals for the 64 Bitz beat.

I am supposed to be working today….But, as I am at the clients home, I begin to get real light headed, whoozy, and feel like throwing up. I am there to setup his network, and fix his computer that had a virus. I leave the house for a 30 min lunch break and dash to L&L’s to get some grub, hoping it would make me better. After the Chicken *Katsu (*correction, after Kalae informed me its not Catsu) and Rice, I still feel like crap. So I end up calling out sick, and getting my co-worker to finish up the call.

Now I am home here on Youtube searching for cool videos. Check out this video that my homie Starwindz made. Its a blend of Gi Joe intro with Bone Thugs in Harmony. I saw this is how Gi Joe should have started their shows:

So if you don’t know, my job is working at Geek Squad servicing peoples computers at their house. Its my only way of making some dough, to support my music habit. I can’t be a star over night by getting a bunch of loans, buying soo many expensive cars and crying for attention like some other homo thug artists…

Right before the big play off games, the Sharks have been having really awesome street rallies. Geek Squad was there chillin, giving away Gift Cards to the civilians who could make the Nerf Basket about 11 feet away.
